Bay Anime

Thought I would share a site that I've been using sense I moved up here to NorCal. Most of you wont really like it sense its focused on things happening in NorCal. But none the less some of you might be interested in coming down here for a convention, fanime, or may actually live here!

Bayanime.com lists events from fairs, concerts, stores, conventions, and many other things. Doesn't just focus on Anime and Manga but the Japenese culture as well so you see alot of interesting events coming up.

Thought I would put up a little blog about a group thats down here in the San Francisco/East Bay Area in NorCal. BAAU, Bay Area Artist Unite, is an artist group down here. Just met up with them when I went to APE on Nov 1. Looks like an interesting group and will probably meet them again at the coming Fremont Anime Fair.

APE was okay didn't get to spend too much time there. But I got some light novels and a few anime for $5 ea so I'm happy.

I've been thinking, been doing that alot during my 5 hour commute, and I've come to the conclusion sleep is good. Sunday night to thursday night I get about 5 hours of sleep and I think that is greatly affecting my throughout the day. Saturday and Sunday I feel great and throughtout the week it progressively gets worse so I've come to the conclusion that sleep is good for you.

Hating EA Games and Vista
Posted On 10/19/2008 19:23:48

This weekend I went out and bought Spore. Was kind've excited, already messed around with the character creator and thought of how I was going to make this first species. Get home open the box pop in the CD load the game start it up and it freazes... I go ok lets try that again ctrl+alt+del end task it and do it again... freazes against thought maybe its just taking time to load so I go make lunch and eat about 30 mins later come back still sitting there frozen I got wth hope on the spore forums for tech support and see thats theres a problem with laptops with vista on them and the game. I'm now going wt* because it clearly says on the box it supports vista. So now I bought a game that doesn't work on my computer unless I downgrade to XP. I would do it sense I liek XP more and it'll give me more resource room but not all my hardware is supported for XP such as wireless. Supposedly someone posted this on the spore forums about 3 and half weeks ago and theres only been 1 mod post 4 days after it was posted saying a ticket has been made and thats it. Sense then theres been 2 patches and neither of them have helped. Bah.. I hate vista and EA games.

Fanime
Posted On 10/18/2008 23:12:59

FanimeCon is an anime convention in Northern California in San Jose. I just found out about it and just pre-ordered my ticket. Looks like a pretty well organized con would be my first anime themed con, I actually tried going to comic con this year but had to leave to norcal for job interviews But this one I'm sure I'm going to go to. Right now the pre-order tickets are $45 for the 4 days. Check it out at fanime.com

They have a pretty friendly forum community as well. If you were planning on going to this let me know we can meet up there.

Manga Cafe Mika
Posted On 10/07/2008 13:42:08

This Saturday I went down to San Francisco I went down to Japan Town to unwind and it was pretty fun and relaxing. They had a little festival going on with daiko drummers and bunch of little contests for kids. Was kind of enjoying.

When I went into the Kintetsu Building (its a mall with a bunch of Japanese Restaurants, Toy stores, book stores, video stores, etc.) and went to Manga Cafe Mika, I've been planning on it ever sense I heard there was one in San Francisco, and it was pretty relaxing. Was $12 for 3 hours which isn't that bad sense I went through 5 novels. The seats were comfortable, very laid back, and the employees there are very courteous. It was very enjoyable. Really helped me unwind after a week of work and commute. Only thing I wish was that they served actual drinks not just chips and soda. Next time I'm gonna go get a drink before I come.

Other things they had there was 3 desktop computers with internet access as well as wireless internet so you can bring your own computer. They also had a nice flat screen TV with some more comfortable chairs by the front to watch anime as well.

The Commute
Posted On 10/05/2008 13:20:50

About 3 weeks ago I moved up to Berkeley and a week later got a job at Intel in Santa Clara. Its a great job, but what suxs is that its roughly a 2 and half hour commute each way. So I've been waking up at 4 to get to work on time, getting home at 9ish and going to sleep at 9:30... The pain... O well...
